Cheat at online Poker

The cheating problem in online poker

Firstly, let's dispel the unsportsmanlike and illegal ways to cheat at online Poker.

Instant Messenger

Online Poker sites are riddled with players using software such as MSN Messenger, ICQ and other Instant messaging tools to try to gain an advantage to their game. This method is the lowest, most dishonest way to try to beat the system and I will tell you why.

Whilst having 3/4 players on the same Poker table all communicating each other's cards may work at times, generally it only encourages you to all play every hand in the hope that one person hits the nuts. When someone then does, some poor soul finds himself surrounded by players with little or no hand raising and reraising the pot. So in the times the people using instant messaging hit the pots, one person pays the price. All the other times, 3/4 people are putting in blinds, calling flops and fishing for cards until the river. This means for it to work you need to win at least 1 in every 4 hands and hope that at least one other player calls to the river. So, an uneconomical, dishonest, idiotic way to try to make up for lack of skill.

Using Multiple Computers yourself

Yes, instead of grouping together/colluding to cheat using instant messenger...why not get 2 or more computers and do it all yourself? Seems like a reasonable idea.

Firstly, you'll need to be a good player to begin with. Otherwise, as we've discussed you'll end up losing your money twice as quickly. Secondly, you should still theoretically win your share of the pots. So for every seat you take up on the table you will win one share of the spoils. You aren't going to get away with outraising other players out of the game online. Most people play theses tables for fun and they're staying to the death. If it's their turn to win, they'll win and will get twice or more times the bluff they would have got had you only used one computer.

It can help a good player win twice as fast but there isn't a huge difference to just playing multiple tabels. Except of course that this is allowed!

Hacking other players computers to see their cards

If you have saw "software" on sale on eBay or another site that shows you other players cards then don't be fooled. Is it possible to hack into other people's computers in order to see the cards they are holding in an online Poker room? Yes. Is it likely? No Can dodgy software you buy on eBay do it for you? Certainly not, it'll be information on hw to hack into someone's computer if you know their IP address.

Just one of the main flaws in the plan to hack into people's computers to see their cards is that you need their IP address. The flaw in the plan. I can picture the conversation on the Poker table, "Hi Devil_fishcake6969, I see you're from Canada...what did you say your IP address was again? Right...and do you have a Personal firewall by any chance?"

To sum up, if you are some sort of master hacker now who can beat firewalls and unencrypt software then isn't there better ways to spend your time? Once you get in, you gain hte advantage of knowing one opponents cards who may not stay long anyway, then you have to get the next user's IP address. Once you get found out a nice time in a cell may help you learn how to actually play the game of Poker without defrauding unsuspecting users.

Finally, every players worst nightmare realised- PokerBots

Some players have made a nice living from online Poker but more recently have found it increasingly difficult to make a profit. Why? Because in a darkened room running away in the corner while another player is at work his computer is up to something. It's stealing pots and playing pot odds to it's advantage. It...knows when to hold em and knows when to fold em. Because this is the rise of the machine, the rise of the PokerBot. What's more, it can even collude with other computers running the software. So if you thought one PokeBot playing against you making perfect decisions not influenced by adrenalin was bad, try a table full!
